Today we had the pleasure of interviewing Vanilla Sugar.
Hi, how was your band born?
Vanilla Sugar was originated on an iMac and midi controller in my previous apartment. I released a few tracks online and was asked to perform live. I began touring after that.
Three adjectives to describe your music…
Dreamy, powerful, and ethereal. I wanted the sound to be a mix of everything I enjoy listening to – which is Metal, Electronic music, Pop, etc. It is a blend of my favorite genres. I call it HorrorPop.
Can you introduce us to your project?
I recently released my debut album, She. The music is unique. There is something special about the whole creating process – it comes alive when you listen to the finished product. It’s just right. The music is dark enough, heavy enough. You can get lost in it. I love that. You can interpret the lyrics any way you want, and apply it to your life.
I plan to go back in the studio this month to begin working on album number two! I’m excited to see what this album will turn into. I am working on video ideas for the She album as well. Ideally, there will be a video for every song. I am finalizing a US and UK tour for this year and next also. I can’t wait to perform again!
What is for you… a show in the drawer?
One of the most favorite memories I have of a show was at Warped Tour in Anchorage, Alaska. There were thousands of people there, and everyone had so much energy and were all feeling the music with me. I loved that. The merch line afterward was two hours long. Incredible! I lost my voice after, but it was worth it!
